Nubeena Tas to Pittwater NSW

27 November 2020, 1400 Hrs

34 46 S, 150 55 E, Starting to have the northerly fill in now so getting bumpy but not slowing us too much yet. Intending to stop briefly at the CYCA in the early hours of the morning to drop stuff off and collect the owners and their family. Hoping to be away again by 7 am to beat the northerlies filling back in again after an overnight lull. Around 70 Nm to Sydney will update in the morning.

0630 Hrs

35 21 S, 150 45 E, Around 15 Nm south of Point Perpendicular (Jervis Bay) Frustratingly slow progress as the southerly only lasted around 10 hours so it wasn’t enough to get us past the strong southerly current in this area. ETA has now extended out to Saturday morning in Sydney as with Northerlies forecast this afternoon and remaining strong over the weekend. Unsure of the ETA in Pittwater now. Oh well! Peter and Sania I will call you later in the day to discuss options for meeting this weekend

26 November 2020, 1230 Hrs

36 38 S, 150 03 E 5 Nm North of Tathra, with a southerly just arriving. Hopefully this will take us past Jervis Bay overnight and we wont need to worry about the strong currents in that area. All well after changing the primary fuel filter a few hours ago. Update will probably be tomorrow morning as hand steering will keep us busy overnight.

0500 Hrs

Underway from Eden, still a bit of northerly about with a southerly predicted around midday. All well despite the early start.

25 November 2020, 1000 Hrs

Eden Jetty

0800 Hrs

37 09 S, 150 04 E, with a 25 Kt Northerly forecast for the rest of the day we are heading into Eden to top up fuel and wait until the early morning before getting back underway ahead of a Southerly change predicted. Further updates upon arrival and leaving.

0300 Hrs

37 33 S, 150 00 E, Gabo Island is 4 Nm to our west! Yea Ha NSW again. Updates later in the day. All is well

23 November 2020 0230 Hrs

41 29 S, 148 24 E, 12 Nm South of St Helens Point. Reception will be fading shortly so updates will not be happening until we approach Gabo Island in 240 Nm approximately 48 Hrs. Forecast is looking good with a light Southerly currently expecting to build to 20-25 Kts over the next 2 days. All is well on board. Will be in touch from Gabo

1300 Hrs

42 23 S, 148 17 E, Around 3Nm South of Schouten Island. Updating now in case there is no further phone reception up the Tasmanian coast. Will try to update when passing St Helens in around 15 Hrs but if we haven’t any reception at the time it could be around 3 days before Gabo Island where regular communications are restored. All well with light headwinds however we are expecting some southerlies to arrive late this evening to send us across the Strait

0815 Hrs

Leaving Triabunna. Will update later in the day depending on phone reception. Big thanks to Dinah for helping to get us this far !

20 November 2020, 2000 Hrs

Arrived Triabunna. The plan was to head to either Port Arthur, back to Nubeena or head on through Denison Canal, Dunelly depending on the wind, sea conditions and timing. The wind and sea did get up to the 30 plus knots predicted and with good speed easily made the high tide at Denison Canal so on we went. Quite pleasant sailing conditions once through Marion Narrows
